Communications Specialist: Contractual Position

Communications Specialist 

The Michigan Oral Health Coalition (MOHC) is looking for a communications specialist. This position is part-time (15-20 hours a week) remote contractual support. 


MOHC is looking for an experienced communicator. We are seeking someone who is self-motivated, but can work well with a team. MOHC is looking for someone who is passionate about oral health.  


About us: The mission of the Michigan Oral Health Coalition is to advocate for policies and resources that connect Michiganders to optimal oral health. 


Communications

  • Develop content for monthly MOHC newsletter.
  • Develop content for other communications materials, as needed.
  • Develop content for training materials.


Continuing Education

  • Work with the MOHC ED and Continuing Education workgroup to plan the annual conference, the Fall Member Meeting and virtual webinars.
  • Develop the content for registration materials and conference booklet
  • Recruit conference speakers, sponsors and vendors.


Membership and Partnership

  • Work with MOHC Executive Director (ED) to update and disseminate content of Member/Partner Guide.
  • Research and recommend a new database system for members and partners.
  • Recruit new members and partners.


General Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent people, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong self-direction–often working independently, learning quickly, setting goals, being resourceful and asking for help when needed.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and feedback.
  • Willingness to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the MOHC ED with a positive attitude.
  • The individual does not need to know everything in the essential functions to apply, but must be willing to learn with enthusiasm. 


Compensation:

The 15 to 20-hour per week contractual position.  The hourly compensation is $25 to $30. As a contractual position, the compensation is solely the hourly rate.  The person selected will not an employee of MOHC and will not entitled to: vacation pay, sick pay, leave time, insurance coverage, or retirement plan. In addition, MOHC will not withhold FICA (Social Security or Medicare taxes), make FICA payments or pay federal or state unemployment taxes.
