The Michigan Oral Health Coalition works to create a large, interconnected network of national, state and local advocates dedicated to working collaboratively on advocacy, education and awareness of oral health. The mission of MOHC is to equitably optimize oral health for all Michiganders.
Ellen Sugrue Hyman is the Executive Director comes to MOHC having recently been a consultant with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) where she developed policy and materials to promote Self-Determination and Person Centered Planning. She is both a writer and attorney having received her JD from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan respectively. Ellen has a strong background grant writing and managing projects, working collaboratively with individuals and organizations including the Michigan Olmstead Coalition and the Michigan Alliance for Families. Ellen previously worked as a consultant with the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative, the Michigan Disability Rights Coalition and The Arc Michigan
